The Baztan-Bidasoa Route

Grand walking tour OF THE FOOTHILLS AND BORDERLANDS OF the BASQUE PYRENEES.

This route is designed to include the best of the Basque Pyrenean foothills centred on the Baztan-Bidasoa region on both the Spanish and French side of the border. The full 6-day route offers a shorter or longer option on the longer days, It is also possible to start the walk in Lesaka and end in Erratzu or in Etxalar and end in Elizondo to make a 5-day walk, with options also available for a 4-day walk, for those with slightly less time. Additionally, extra nights’ half board accommodation can be arranged at any of the villages along the route to allow more time for longer, more relaxed exploration. * Grade of difficulty: shorter options: moderate; full routes: fairly strenuous

* It is a condition for booking this or any other guided or self-guided walk described on this Basque Country Walks website that participants be covered by a suitable travel insurance policy that includes walking over hilly/mountainous terrain up to 1000 metres that is valid for Spain and the French Pyrenees (in the case of this route), and includes emergency evacuation.
